Digital Smile Designing or DSD is a unique dental planning tool that allows us as your aesthetic dentist to provide you with a vision, enhance predictability, and improve communication. A treatment plan is completely based on a thorough analysis of your dental and facial proportions. Through the use of videos, photographs, and temporary mock-ups, we can get a better sense of the relationship between the lips, gums, and teeth, as well as how they work together to create your smile that would blend naturally with your existing teeth and enhance them in every way possible.

By studying your face and teeth, we can design a unique smile for you on a computer - digitally.

Your smile is important to the way you look and feel, so if you're always trying to hide your teeth, you may not be portraying yourself in a very positive light. Additionally, every person is unique and has his or her own set of needs and wants out of the patient's treatment. Applying a one-size-fits-all treatment plan isn/t going to provide the same results to each individual situation.

With DSD, you're not limited to a single course of treatment. Instead, the focus is on what you want and need. Those expectations are then applied to your treatment plan. When your treatment is complete, you'll have a beautiful and natural smile that complements your features and helps you feel more confident in the way you look.

DSD allows you to get involved in creating their ideal smile, before starting any dental treatment. You have a chance to preview the new smile in real time. DSD also gives an opportunity to you to visually choose which treatment plan suits your budget as well as smile you truly desire.

One of the best aspects of DSD is the fact that just about any patient is a good candidate for the option. The concept is based on the analysis of your dental and facial dimensions. This happens through the use of high-quality digital videos and photographs, allowing us to understand the relationship between your lips, gums, and teeth. From there, you'll be heavily involved in the planning phase. What you see in this phase is what your smile will ultimately look like after the procedure is complete.

If you've always wanted to change something about your smile, this is the time to bring up your wants and needs. You're in the driver's seat, working with us for a better result.

In the first dental visit, a few photos and videos of your face are taken. We the smile designer's will then design your new smile digitally. In the second dental visit; you will be shown your new custom-made smile and an opportunity to review it with us live and in real time.

Upon approval, we will begin the restoration process. This often involves keeping the mock-up or model in your mouth as a preparation guide. Any fragments or damaged teeth will be removed, and restored teeth will be placed as implants or veneers. We will restore each individual tooth before moving on to the next. Finally, the process is finished with a polishing treatment that will help your teeth look shiny and clean.

Although other dental providers and treatment plans may use certain aspects of digital imaging or software, most don't have access to a full solution like DSD such as us. Therefore, the predictability element is lost because the dentist may not be able to tell you exactly what your smile will look like at the end of the procedure. Using DSD helps to remove the struggle with miscommunication or unanswered questions due to a lack of clarity. This is because you and our team members will be on the same page.

Digital Smile Design is one of the leading forefronts of dental technology, ensuring a dental care treatment that is best for each patient. With DSD, you'll be on your way to creating a treatment plan that is unique to your dental needs and will give you the smile you deserve.

Frequently Asked Questions

A smile makeover is a way to invest in yourself by investing in your smile. It improves your smile by whitening, brightening, and straightening your teeth. Why not invest in your smile!?

So what does a smile makeover involve? We'll show you right here.

There are varying degrees of cosmetic dentistry necessary to make your smile the best it can be. Every set of teeth is different. Let's take a look at some of the aspects of a beautiful smile.

Spacing of teeth and alignment of teeth
How are your teeth aligned? Good alignment means having teeth that are straight and follow each other naturally. If you had braces as a child, you might have pretty straight teeth. But if not, you may have crooked teeth or teeth that are set back from the rest. The same goes for spacing. You may have gaps between teeth that didn't fill in when you were a child.

Missing and chipped teeth
Chipped teeth or broken teeth can be embarrassing, especially if they're in the front of your mouth. They can also lead to more serious issues like tooth decay. Broken chipped teeth leave your teeth vulnerable to substances that can break them down further or cause pain in the root leading to root canal therapy.

Missing teeth affect your smile. But they also affect the way the rest of your teeth sit in your mouth.

When you lose a tooth, space opens up for the other teeth to move around. This causes issues with the spacing and alignment of the rest of your mouth.

If you're missing a tooth, it also affects how the teeth come together when you bite down. This may not be an issue at first, but as time goes on, it can cause lots of problems. Headaches, cracked teeth, dental pain, poor oral hygiene swollen gums and tenderness and jaw pain are all issues that can come from a misaligned bite.

Tooth colour
One of the most obvious smile issues is the colour of your teeth. Fortunately, this is also one of the easiest things to fix. Coffee, wine, and other acidic foods attack the enamel and leave stains behind.

Tooth length and tooth proportion
The size of your teeth makes a difference. Are your teeth well-proportioned to your mouth and to each other?

Many people have one or two teeth that are smaller than the others, making the mouth look lopsided. And if your teeth are abnormally long or short, that can cause a problem too. The teeth may be of correct length however in some cases the gum covering the teeth maybe excessive giving rise to what's known as a gummy smile.

The elements of the smile makeover
Having a makeover will give you, not only a great smile, but the confidence and happiness you deserve! A smile makeover is the process of creating a better, brighter and healthier smile by using one or more dental processes or procedures. Those procedures can include brightening, Straightening Teeth by using Invisalign, implants, installing tooth veneers and/or repairing chips and cracks in the existing teeth. What procedure is necessary depends on your individual needs and that's why our cosmetic dentists can tailor your smile makeover to address the issues that bother you.

Here's a look at services that Therapeuo Dental offers to get your smile back on track.

Laser teeth whitening/conventional whitening
For many people, it's as simple as a good, professional whitening job. We at Therapeuo are able to use stronger, and more effective methods to whiten than you'd get over-the-counter. The key to good whitening is not to go too white. Our cosmetic and laser dentists ensure to give you a good natural looking smile that matches your face and does not look fake. At Therapeuo, we can whiten your teeth in one sitting. With the help of a Laser this treatment can be shortened down to a period of 8 minutes as compared to the conventional whitening of 45 minutes.

Gum contouring
For many reasons some people have gums that ride too low, or too high on their teeth. This can make the teeth look too small, or too large. Gum contouring can shape the gum line, improving the appearance of your smile. Gums may recede because of disease, genetics or even medication you may be taking. Gum contouring helps cover the teeth in a way that enhances your smile and keeps your teeth healthy.

Tooth coloured restorations with bonding (composite fillings)
If you have chipped teeth, bonding tooth coloured fillings (composite filings) is a great way to save the tooth and make it look whole again. Our cosmetic and restorative dentists use a super strong resin to recreate the missing enamel. The resin creates a firm bond with your natural tooth so it's stable and safe. And it's colour matched perfectly so that it blends right in with the rest of your teeth and does not look out of place.

Invisible braces (invisalign, flash orthodontics, I-Aligners)
Problems with teeth alignment used to mean you had to wear wire braces for several year. You don't have to walk around for months with metal braces or the dreaded metal mouth anymore! We now have a nearly invisible braces which is an appliance you wear and remove. Our dental braces specialist (orthodontist) custom makes these trays for you. They are therefore comfortable and eliminate the shock of metal display and the common problem of metal allergies so many people have.

Each set of trays is specially-made to fit your teeth. They are nearly invisible, making them more discrete than braces. And they're more comfortable than bulky, wire braces. They do not interfere with your lifestyle due to their invisible nature. You are also able to maintain your normal diet as these aligners have to be removed when you would like to have a meal.

Plus, with Invisible braces (Invisalign, Flash orthodontics or I aligners), you can take them out to eat and clean your teeth. And they often work faster than braces. Invisible braces usually correct teeth alignment in about 6 to 12 months.

Dental veneers (porcelain veneers)
Once you lose that bright white surface of the tooth it's often impossible to restore, unless you have tooth veneers installed. Tooth or dental veneers are wafer-thin, custom-made shells of tooth-coloured ceramic.

Veneers are designed to cover the front surface of your teeth to improve your appearance. The veneers are permanently bonded to the front of your teeth. Veneers change the colour, shape and even the size or length of your teeth, giving you a younger, fresher, better-looking smile with the least invasive treatment.

Dental implants
If you have one or more missing teeth, dental implants are the way to go. With an implant, the implant dentist (implant specialist) places a titanium device into your jaw where the root of the missing tooth was. On top of the post, the restorative dentist (prosthodontist) fits the final crown. Implants work for more than one tooth too. If you have several teeth in a row, they can all be replaced by a precise number of implants which can be determined by the implant dentist. Dental implants can even replace dentures or provide additional retention for loose dentures. You probably won't need all of these procedures, few people do. But one or more of them can change your mouth, smile and most importantly your life for the better.

Dental Veneers

Do your teeth need enhancing?

Dental veneers, also known as 'laminates' are used to cosmetically enhance the appearance of one or more teeth and help save your teeth. Veneers are extremely thin (as thin as 0.3mm), porcelain or composite resin shells that are customised for a desirable colour and shape. They are bonded to the surface of the teeth to reshape broken, misshapen or irregular teeth, as well as provide a solution for discoloured teeth that do not respond to traditional whitening treatments. We give our patients veneers that typically achieve a natural tooth appearance, is well-tolerated by the gums and also resistant to future stains. In such cases there is usually no need for root canal treatment (endodontic treatment) or dental crowns (caps).
It is highly recommended that before you go in for Dental veneer treatment you "test drive your new smile" so that you can be sure of the final outcome of the treatment. For further information on this please do check out our "Test drive your new smile" page.

Before you get dental veneers :

  • Your teeth and gums must be healthy before you get veneers. As your dental specialists we will treat any disease or decay before your veneers are placed.
  • Veneers are not always a good choice for patients who clench or grind their teeth, because the thin veneers may chip or break. If you clench or grind your teeth, our restorative dentist usually suggest you wear a plastic dental night guard while sleeping.
  • Although our aesthetic/cosmetic dentist removes as little tooth enamel as possible for veneers, the process cannot be undone once the enamel is removed. It is a permanent change.
  • It is possible for the dental veneers to come loose over time. In that case, new ones might be needed.
  • As with all your dental care, discuss all your expectations and treatment options with our aesthetic/cosmetic dentist. Regular dental visits are a must for keeping your teeth and gums healthy and prevent your gums from becoming sowllen or tender.

After you get veneers :

  • Veneers are the longest lasting restorations in the mouth however thy can still chip or break under pressure. Avoid biting your fingernails and chewing on hard objects, such as pencils or ice.
  • It may take you a few days to get used to the feel of your veneers. But do let our aesthetic/cosmetic dentist know if your bite does not feel right after the veneer has been placed. We will correct it before you leave the office.
  • Keep your teeth and gums clean by brushing and flossing each day. You can still get cavities under or around veneers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Dental veneers may be right for you if you are looking for an alternative to crowns and caps for the front teeth. Veneers can help you if you have gaps between your teeth or teeth that are broken, chipped, irregularly shaped or misaligned. To find out more about whether dental veneers are right for you, contact us at Therapeuo to schedule a consultation.

There are several steps in the procedure. First, our aesthetic/cosmetic dentist will likely administer a local anesthetic so you will be comfortable during tooth preparation and placement of the veneer. Your natural tooth is then prepared by minimally reshaping it with a small handheld rotational cutting device called a bur to provide the best fit. Burs come in various shapes and sizes and allow precise and minimal shaping of a tooth prior to placement.

If your treatment involves direct composite resin veneers, our aesthetic/cosmetic dentist then will apply the appropriately shaded composite to your teeth, shape the material and harden it using a high intensity light. Additional layers of composite may be applied to build the veneer to the correct shape, length and form for your smile. When all composite is placed, the veneers will be finished and polished using burs and polishers to create a vital and lifelike smile.

If your treatment requires porcelain veneers, our aesthetic/cosmetic dentist will make an impression of your teeth from which a mold of your mouth will be made. This impression is then sent to an outside dental laboratory where the veneers will be professionally fabricated. When the veneers are ready, they will be fitted, bonded and adjusted for shape and colour. You will be given temporary veneers during this waiting period.

There is no special care required for dental veneers, and normal brushing and flossing can be resumed immediately. Since veneers are usually placed over the course of two appointments, it is normal to experience some sensitivity between the first and second visit when the teeth have been reduced in preparation for bonding.

Did You Know ?

Dental veneers are actually a conservative way of completely making over your smile? In fact, veneers are a 'go to' cosmetic procedure that has become a popular option with people who want a brighter and more symmetrical smile. Fortunately, affordability, accessibility and easy payment options make it easy for anyone to get dental veneers.

Gummy Smile Correction

Do you have a gummy smile? An optimal smile line is one that reveals the least amount of gum tissue when an individual smiles. Consequently, the gum tissue should have a balanced look in the smile line while making sure that they are properly aligned with your upper lip. The primary reason why many people think their smile is unappealing is because they have a gummy smile. Hence, the individual might be hesitant to smile publicly.

So what is a gummy smile?

Anyone who shows a significant amount of their upper gums when they smile maybe considered to have this condition, which creates an unbalanced look, emphasizing gums over teeth. Excess gum tissue or an upper lip that lifts considerably when a person smiles are the main causes for a gummy smile appearance.

Many people ask if a gummy smile is just an aesthetic problem or something beyond that. A smile line is an aesthetic zone which shows your teeth when you are smiling. There are other factors as well that might affect the appearance of your smile. The size and shape of your lips play an integral role in defining the beauty of your smile. Apart from this, your facial muscles, size and shape of the teeth, and gum tissue also influence the appearance of your smile. You will have an attractive smile if there is minimum gum tissue showing.

Many people have come to accept their gummy smile. Those who have not been able to do so often bear great shame and disappointment. If this describes your scenario, then it's time to act and consider Gummy Smile Correction.

A gummy smile is more than a cosmetic problem, wherein it can make you self-conscious and cause you to cover up your true emotions!!!

However, it could be corrected by absolutely pain free treatment procedures at Therapeuo Dental Clinic.

At Therapeuo, Gummy Smile Correction will be done using a soft tissue laser (laser dentistry). This will make the procedure much gentler on your gum tissue, reducing the recovery time and help you achieve better results faster.

Combined with almost no discomfort, dental laser treatment is the best available option to cut away excessive gum tissue and avoid having any swollen or tender gums later.

Furthermore, the advanced technology of dental laser seals up the blood vessels automatically resulting in less swelling and blood during and after treatment.

Causes of Gummy Smiles

Gummy smiles are caused by an assortment of various issues with both, your teeth and gums:

  • Size and shape of teeth - The abnormal eruption of teeth where the new teeth appear to be short
  • Excessive gum tissue present - The teeth maybe of correct size and shape but are covered up with excessive gum tissue.
  • Length of upper lip - Having overactive muscles that are responsible for the upper lip movement. While smiling, the muscles may pull the upper lip far more than usual. This gives the perception of having a gummy smile.
  • Incorrect development of the upper jaw bone resulting in a gummy smile. This is because the jaw might bulge out a bit more than usual.

Frequently Asked Questions

A "gummy smile" occurs when too much gum tissue (in technical terms, over 2 milli meters) is visible in the smile. Different people have different ideas about when this issue becomes a problem, but if you feel it detracts from your appearance, then you are a candidate for gummy smile correction.

Did You Know ?

When a person smiles, it is normal for the teeth and just a small amount of gums to be visible. Your gum tissue is like a frame that provides form and shape to the top of your tooth. Those with a gummy smile, however, show an excessive amount of gums when they smile. A gummy smile is clinically diagnosed as showing more than 2 milli meters of upper gum when smiling.

EPIC Laser Teeth Whitening

Brushing and flossing are everyday ways to keep your teeth bright, white and healthy. Still, if you might feel like your smile is lacking some sparkle or is more yellow than it used to be, you're not alone

Why Did My Teeth Change Color?
Over time, your teeth can go from white to not-so-bright for a number of reasons:

Food and Drink
Coffee, tea and red wine are some major staining culprits. What do they have in common? Intense color pigments called chromogens that attach to the white, outer part of your tooth (enamel).

Tobacco Use
Two chemicals found in tobacco create stubborn stains: Tar and nicotine. Tar is naturally dark. Nicotine is colorless until it's mixed with oxygen. Then, it turns into a yellowish, surface-staining substance.

Age
Below the hard, white outer shell of your teeth (enamel) is a softer area called dentin. Over time, the outer enamel layer gets thinner with brushing and more of the yellowish dentin shows through.

Trauma
If you've been hit in the mouth, your tooth may change color because it reacts to an injury by laying down more dentin, which is a darker layer under the enamel.

Medications
Tooth darkening can be a side effect of certain antihistamines, antipsychotics and high blood pressure medications. Young children who are exposed to antibiotics like tetracycline and doxycycline when their teeth are forming (either in the womb or as a baby) may have discoloration of their adult teeth later in life. Chemotherapy and head and neck radiation can also darken teeth.

Are your teeth looking too yellow?
Teeth Whitening procedures are used to brighten the appearance of a patient's smile – sometimes by as many as 5 to 10 shades in a single session. We provide teeth whitening in the clinic. In comparison to over-the-counter teeth whitening treatments, professional whitening uses better whitening agents that deliver faster and more effective results.

At Therapeuo, you will get an EPIC Laser Teeth Whitening which is the fastest method of teeth whitening available today (15 minutes versus 1 hour for conventional tooth whitening).

Other advantages of Epic Laser Whitening :

  • The acid gel is on your teeth only for 8 minutes as compared to 45 minutes conventionally
  • Gentler than conventional whitening. People with sensitive teeth can undergo the treatment
  • Increased efficacy of the whitening gel
  • Your teeth stay whiter for longer
  • Lesser chances of teeth sensitivity post treatment

Frequently Asked Questions

You may be a candidate for professional Laser Teeth Whitening if you are experiencing discolouration, but otherwise have healthy teeth and healthy gums. Some patients, such as those who are pregnant, may not be candidates for professional teeth whitening. Schedule a consultation with us to find out if Laser Teeth Whitening could be right for you. Also please do remember that :

  • Teeth that are very yellow respond best to bleaching. Brown or gray teeth, or teeth striped or mottled from tetracycline or too much fluoride, may not whiten evenly when bleached.
  • People with periodontal disease or particularly sensitive teeth may want to avoid chemical whitening techniques that can irritate tender gums.
  • Bleaching is not recommended if you have tooth-colored fillings, crowns, caps or bonding in your front teeth — the bleach will not change the color of these materials, making them stand out in your newly whitened smile. You may want to investigate other options, like veneers or bonding with your dentist.
  • In some cases involving serious tooth or jaw problems, a crown or cap recommended to correct orthodontic problems may also result in a whiter and more appealing smile.

Teeth whitening isn't permanent. It can last from a few months to up to 3 years – it varies from person to person.
The whitening effect won't last as long if you smoke or drink red wine, tea or coffee, which can all stain your teeth.

Teeth whitening doesn't work on dentures, crowns, fillings or veneers.

The EPIC Laser Teeth Whitening begins with a thorough cleaning and polishing of the teeth. After all the debris has been carefully removed we will proceed to protect your gums before applying a whitening agent to the surface of your teeth. The product will be activated and left on the teeth for only 4 cycles of 2 minutes each (total 8 minutes).

Your results will vary according to the natural shade of your teeth and degree of discolouration, but it is normal for patients to experience a lightening of atleast 6 shades or more in a single visit.

Some people may find that their teeth become sensitive to cold during or after the treatment. Others may have discomfort in the gums or white patches on the gum line. These symptoms are usually temporary and should disappear within a few hours of completing the laser whitening treatment. If any of these side effects continue you should visit us.

General care :
You rarely might experience some tooth sensitivity following an EPIC Laser Teeth Whitening Treatment. Depending on your results and long-term teeth whitening goals, you may also be sent home from your procedure with an at-home whitening kit for later use.

Don't :
You are advised to avoid consuming highly pigmented foods and beverages for at least 24 hours to prevent the teeth from becoming stained again. Examples include turmeric, tea, coffee, wine and aerated beverages

Did You Know ?

Teeth naturally darken as we age. Furthermore, certain foods, beverages, medications and habits can contribute to a darker, yellowed, or stained smile. However, it is possible to erase years of stains in a single professional whitening session and sustain those results for many years with proper maintenance.
